Beijing

In March 12 of 2009, I will be visiting for the first time in my life a totally different country and culture, it will be The Republic of China.

This is what I’m expecting to see!!!!

In Beijing the capital of China

The Great Wall

I look forward to see China's Great Wall stretches east-west for more than 5000 kilometers. Its origins can be traced to the 7th Century BCE, when independent kingdoms constructed separate walls to keep out marauding nomads. China's first emperor linked many of these during the Qin Dynasty (221-207 BCE). It was renovated several times in later centuries. Built along the rolling ridges of steep mountains, it offers spectacular, even awe-inspiring views, and is surely one of humankind's greatest architectural achievements. For specific details on the Great Wall refer to Badaling , Mutianyu , Simatai and Huanghuacheng .

The Tiananmen Square

The Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world and is considered a symbol of the People's Republic of China. The square is surrounded by a cluster of massive buildings including Tiananmen Gate , The Forbidden City , the Great Hall of the People, The Monument of the People's Heroes and the Mao Zedong Mausoleum, this will be amazing.
Tiananmen attracts thousands of visitors every year from throughout China due to its political and historical significance. The square was recently renovated to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Temple of Heaven

Situated in the south of the city, this stunning temple park was built between 1406 and 1420. It was here that the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties prayed, through an elaborate ritual, to the gods for good rains and good harvests. There are four main areas—the Round Altar, Echo Wall, the Vault of Heaven and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. The distinctive outline of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is a symbol of Beijing, and a whisper at any point on the echo wall can be heard anywhere else along its length.

In Xi’ an another city of China I hope to see the Mausoleum !!

Mausoleum of the first Qin Emperor

No doubt thousands of statues still remain to be unearthed at this archaeological site, which was not discovered until 1974. Qin (d. 210 B.C.), the first unifier of China, is buried, surrounded by the famous terracotta warriors, at the centre of a complex designed to mirror the urban plan of the capital, Xianyan. The small figures are all different; with their horses, chariots and weapons, they are masterpieces of realism and also of great historical interest.

In shanghai, ( meaning "up from the sea" ) I will love to be standing in front of The Oriental Pearl TV Tower !!!

Standing 468 meters high, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower is one of the highest towers in Asia. Tourists may climb the tower for panoramic views of the city. The ground floor features a shopping area, cafe, and an international city exhibit. It also offers deluxe conference rooms that have hosted leaders and VIPs from around the world. On clear days, the upper levels of this tower, measuring no less than 263 meters in height, offer spectacular views of the city. Admission fee is CNY50.

Jade Buddha temple

This temple, which was constructed in 1918, ranks as one of Shanghai's top tourist draws. The interior is heavy in the wow-factor with its classic Chinese architecture and is highlighted by a massive jade statue of Buddha. But what makes this so wildly popular is the ability to witness the temple's resident monks performs their daily ceremonies throughout its four halls. These daily "events" provide amazing first-hand insight to China's ancient religious culture. Visitors are asked to behave accordingly.
